There was Jomon era in Japan, which was 25 thousand years ago. It lasted so long that it was supposed to influence what we are now to a huge extent. If you read this book, you will be able to find a lot of clues of Jomon whatever you see in your daily lives. However, this book is not academic, but a mystery novel. So, you can travel in Jomon era through reading the book, which is a pleasant journey.
Also, this book helps you understand our culture, religion, and value are rooted on Jomon, and it makes us feel we are living a moment in a longer time span than we can imagine. It feels very romantic.
