あけましておめでとうございます。
小説についても書きたいなぁとおもいつつ、まとまったことがかけず、手が進んでいません。
なので、今回は小説よりの本を紹介したいと思います。
村上春樹は、多くの人が一冊は読んだことがあるのではないでしょうか。好きな人も、あまり合わなかったという人もいるかとは思いますが、こういった対談の本から、彼の考えていることを聞くと、また興味がわくかもしれません。そう思ったのは、自分がこの本を読んで、村上春樹は現在進行形の作家なのだ
と感じたからです。過去の作品に引きずられて作品を作る、というタイプの作家ではなく、常に先を見ているということを感じることができ、非常に好感をもてました。
もう一つ、印象的だったのが聞き手である川上さんの質問力が非常に高い、ということです。あまり自分のことを話さない村上さんが、これだけ自由に自分のことを語っているという点だけでも非常に価値のあり、その引き出し方がとても気持ちのいいものでした。
特に、面白いと思ったのは、読者を悪いようにはしない、と思って書いているということ。これだけ読者がついていると、がっかりさせるかもしれない、期待に沿えないかもしれない、ということも考えなくはないけれども、「まぁ、読んでみ。悪いようにはせんかったやろ。」と思っていると語っていました。それが読者を信頼して、自分の書きたいことをかけている秘訣なのだと思いました。
Although I realize that there seems to be a need for seeing review for novels, not for non fictinal books, I often tend to avoid to work on it. Having said that, I am going to write some reviews on novels I read, which would be one of the resolutions for the new year.
Today, I have chosen a book that is a little close to novels.
This book is a dialogue between two novelists: Murakami and Kawakami. Murakami is interviewed by the other novelist Kawakami.
I see that there are some people who do like Murakami's novels, but others who don't so much at the same time. However, if you read this book and touch upon his thouhts and ideas, it may make you intereted in his works. This is mainly because I sense that he is who is advancing in an ongoing manner. Some authors are likey to stcik with their own previous works, but he doesn't do it and is constantly looking ahead. The attitude of not looking back attracts me a lot.
Another major point I want to highlight is that Kawakami is very good at asking and questioning. Murakami is usually not fond of talking of himself, but such a person was talking about himself and his works with a lot of fun. I was taken aback by it and brought us about pleasant feeling while reading.
